Epigenetics, the study of heritable changes in gene expression that do not involve alterations to the DNA sequence, has become a vital component of modern biological and medical education. As scientific understanding of epigenetic mechanisms continues to expand, universities must adopt effective teaching strategies to ensure students grasp these complex concepts. This paper explores various pedagogical approaches used to teach epigenetics at the university level, including traditional lectures, problem-based learning (PBL), interactive laboratory experiments, and digital tools such as bioinformatics platforms. Additionally, it discusses the challenges faced by educators, including the interdisciplinary nature of epigenetics, the rapid advancement of the field, and the need for hands-on experiences. The effectiveness of different teaching methods is evaluated based on student engagement, retention of knowledge, and application in research settings. Ultimately, this study provides recommendations for improving epigenetics education and ensuring students develop a comprehensive understanding of its principles and applications.
