Аннотация

Collocations, or the natural combinations of words that frequently appear together, are a significant aspect of language proficiency. They play an essential role in language acquisition, particularly for learners of English as a second language (ESL). This paper explores the importance of collocations in ESL teaching and learning, examining how collocations contribute to fluency, comprehension, and overall language proficiency. The paper discusses various types of collocations, their relevance to communication, and strategies for teaching them effectively. Additionally, the paper highlights the challenges ESL learners face when acquiring collocations and provides practical approaches for educators to integrate them into classroom instruction. By focusing on the role of collocations, this paper emphasizes how teaching them can enhance the learner’s ability to produce more natural, native-like language and improve their language comprehension.
