Аннотация

The global reliance on Hevea brasiliensis as the primary source of natural rubber motivates the exploration of alternative rubber-bearing species that can diversify supply, enhance local resilience, and support smallholder economies. Ficus species (Ficus spp.), historically noted for their latex-bearing capacity (e.g., Ficus elastica, F. benghalensis, F. religiosa), represent a promising but underutilized resource. This manuscript provides a systematic account of the botanical and chemical characteristics of latex-producing Ficus plants, practical and scalable methods for latex collection and pre-processing, and laboratory-to-pilot techniques for extraction and purification of cis-1,4-polyisoprene (natural rubber). Emphasis is placed on preserving polymer integrity during harvesting, minimizing protein and non-rubber contaminants, and optimizing yield through controlled coagulation, creaming, centrifugation, and washing protocols. Analytical strategies for material characterization (spectroscopy, thermal analysis, molecular-weight profiling, and mechanical testing) are outlined to assess suitability for commercial and niche applications.
