Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) represents one of the most transformative paradigms in the history of second language education. Rooted in the idea that communication is both the means and the ultimate goal of learning a language, CLT has redefined classroom dynamics and teacher-student interactions. The approach emphasizes authentic language use, fluency over accuracy, and learner-centered participation. This paper examines the influence of CLT on students’ fluency development, analyzing theoretical foundations, pedagogical practices, and empirical results from language classrooms across different contexts. It explores how CLT fosters interactive competence, reduces speaking anxiety, and promotes spontaneous speech production. The research also highlights challenges faced by teachers in implementing CLT effectively, especially in exam-oriented or resource-limited settings. Ultimately, this study argues that CLT, when properly applied, significantly enhances learners’ communicative fluency by integrating real-life contexts, meaningful interaction, and reflective learning experiences.
