Аннотация

The increasing awareness of environmental sustainability and health concerns associated with synthetic UV filters has driven the search for natural, eco-friendly alternatives in sunscreen formulations. Local plant wastes, traditionally treated as low-value agricultural by-products, offer a promising source of bioactive compounds with natural UV-absorbing, antioxidant, and photoprotective properties. This article explores the feasibility of using local plant waste materials—such as fruit peels, seed husks, and herbal residues—for sustainable production of sunscreen creams. Emphasis is placed on extraction methodologies, UV-absorbing phytochemicals, SPF evaluation, stability analysis, and environmental benefits. The findings indicate that plant waste–derived extracts can significantly enhance sunscreen performance while reducing environmental impact and production costs.
