Аннотация

The use of authentic materials in Japanese language lessons has become an increasingly significant approach in modern foreign language pedagogy. Authentic materials refer to texts, audio, video, and visual content originally created for native speakers rather than for language learners. Examples include newspapers, manga, anime, television programs, podcasts, menus, advertisements, social media posts, and official documents. Incorporating such materials into Japanese lessons exposes students to real-life language use, cultural nuances, pragmatic expressions, and contemporary vocabulary.
This paper explores the pedagogical value of authentic materials in Japanese language instruction. It examines their role in developing communicative competence, intercultural awareness, and learner motivation. Authentic materials provide contextualized input that reflects natural grammar patterns, honorific usage, colloquial expressions, and discourse structures typical of everyday Japanese communication. Additionally, they help bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world application.
However, the implementation of authentic resources presents challenges, including linguistic complexity, cultural references unfamiliar to learners, and the need for careful scaffolding. Teachers must select materials appropriate to students’ proficiency levels and design supportive tasks to facilitate comprehension and engagement.
Overall, authentic materials can significantly enhance Japanese language education when integrated thoughtfully. By promoting meaningful interaction and cultural understanding, they support the development of practical language skills and prepare learners for real communicative situations in Japanese-speaking contexts.
