Polyaluminum chloride (PAC) is a widely used inorganic coagulant in water and wastewater treatment due to its high efficiency, low sludge production, and broad pH applicability. Conventional production methods rely on aluminum hydroxide or bauxite as raw materials; however, the utilization of kaolin clay presents a promising alternative due to its abundance and low cost. This study investigates the technological process of synthesizing PAC from kaolin through acid activation, thermal treatment, and controlled polymerization. The influence of process parameters such as calcination temperature, acid concentration, and reaction time on the physicochemical properties of PAC is analyzed. The results demonstrate that kaolin-derived PAC exhibits comparable or superior coagulation performance to commercial products, highlighting its potential for sustainable and cost-effective production.
