Аннотация
For decades, second language acquisition (SLA) has been dominated by textbook-centric pedagogies, prioritizing grammatical accuracy and rote memorization over authentic communicative competence. However, the modern educational landscape has witnessed a paradigm shift toward innovative teaching methods that transcend the limitations of static print materials. This paper explores the profound impact of these methodologies—including Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT), Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL), the Flipped Classroom model, gamification, and immersive technologies like Virtual Reality (VR)—on the acquisition of a second language. By shifting the focus from passive reception to active, meaningful production, these approaches align intimately with socio-constructivist learning theories and the need for lowered affective filters. Moving beyond the textbook fosters environments where learners engage in authentic problem-solving, collaborative meaning-making, and contextualized language use. Consequently, these methods have been shown to significantly enhance learner motivation, decrease linguistic anxiety, and accelerate the development of spontaneous communicative proficiency. This paper synthesizes current pedagogical theories to demonstrate that while textbooks remain valuable reference tools, the integration of dynamic, learner-centered, and technologically enhanced methodologies is essential for cultivating functional bilingualism and long-term linguistic retention in the 21st-century classroom.
