SURFACE FUNCTIONALIZATION OF SIO₂ AND TIO₂ NANOPARTICLES FOR SELF-CLEANING AND ANTI-FOULING SURFACES

Аннотация
Nanotechnology has become one of the most important scientific fields in modern material science and engineering. Among various nanomaterials, silicon dioxide (SiO₂) and titanium dioxide (TiO₂) nanoparticles have attracted significant attention because of their unique physical, chemical, and photocatalytic properties. These nanoparticles are widely used in coatings, biomedical materials, environmental purification systems, and advanced industrial applications.
One of the most promising applications of SiO₂ and TiO₂ nanoparticles is the development of self-cleaning and anti-fouling surfaces. Such surfaces can automatically remove dirt, microorganisms, oils, and contaminants without extensive human intervention. These technologies are highly valuable in construction materials, marine engineering, medical devices, textiles, solar panels, and automotive industries.
