Аннотация
The ability to use English in formal professional situations is increasingly valuable for civil servants who communicate with international partners, interpret policy information, and prepare official correspondence. This article examines pedagogical and methodological foundations for teaching the official style of English to civil servants. It discusses needs analysis, genre-based instruction, task-based learning, explicit language teaching, and assessment aligned with realistic workplace communication. The article argues that effective training should combine formal vocabulary and grammar with the practical conventions of emails, letters, reports, meeting notes, and presentations. It also emphasizes intercultural awareness, accuracy, clarity, confidentiality, and professional tone. A flexible training model built around authentic tasks and constructive feedback can help learners transfer classroom skills to public-service settings.
